A petition challenging the appointment of former CBI official Rakesh Asthana as the Delhi Police Commissioner has been filed in the Delhi High Court. The petitioner has claimed that the criteria for the appointment laid down by the Supreme Court were ignored in Asthana's appointment to the top post. The matter will be heard by the court today. The Union Home Ministry appointed Asthana to the post on July 27.
