PLA Commander overseeing India border promoted to rank of General

Xu Qiling, the Commander of the People's Liberation Army’s Western Theatre Command which oversees the borders with India, has been promoted to the rank of General by China's Communist Party chairman Xi Jinping. General is the highest rank for officers in active service in China. Apart from Xu, several other military officers including the Commander of the Southern Theatre Command Wang Xiubin were promoted.
