In what can be termed as a pathbreaking innovation, scientists at Newlight -- a California based biotech company, have developed a material that looks and behaves like plastic but is extremely biodegradable. The company has named the material aircarbon. Researchers have used microorganisms found in the ocean that consume methane and CO2 to develop the product. The firm has used the material to make plastic cutlery, straws, etc.
