PM CARES fund to be brought under CSR activity, centre issues notification

The government has issued a notification with retrospective effect enabling the treatment of contributions made by companies to the PM CARES fund as corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending. Approved activities under CSR include eradicating extreme hunger, poverty, promotion of education, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The notification to treat the donations as CSR was issued upon some states' request.
