Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state power sector is bearing losses worth Rs. 300 crore per month due to power theft and non-payment of electricity bills. He said the government will take firm steps to recover revenue and stop illegal power consumption. The CM said, "APDCL is compelled to approach to Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission to increase the rate of energy tariff" to recover the losses.
