A protest launched by a group of people against Columbus Day turned violent as a group of protestors brought down statues of former Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and vandalized the Oregon Historical Society in Portland. The protestors termed the protest “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage" that was launched against the federal holiday named after 15th-century Italian explorer Christopher Columbus.
