Punjab CM calls centre's move to empower BSF as "direct attack on federalism"

The decision by the Union Home Ministry to empower the Border Security Force to carry out searches and arrests over a wider area in 3 border states has invited criticism from many including Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi. "I strongly condemn the government's unilateral decision to give additional powers to BSF within 50 km belt running along the international borders, which is a direct attack on the federalism," CM Channi said.
