Reduced teaching time to 19%, teachers do elections duty and survey in remaining time

A survey was conducted which revealed that teachers only spent 19% of their time in teaching and in remaining time they do election duties, carry out surveys, pulse polio campaign, and maintain mid-day meal registers. It is a shock to know that in 2015-16 out of 220 mandate days by the RTE Act, only 42 days were spent on teaching. On being asked teachers revealed that 81% of their time is spent as BLOs.
