According to a report, the Xi Jinping-led Chinese administration continued its attempt to wipe out the Uighur ethnic community and crackdown on minorities, a brutal practice that was started under Mao Zedong. As per the report, China closed and demolished many major shrines, mosques and other holy structures belonging to the Uighur community across Xinjiang.
