Reservation for transgenders in all government jobs in Karnataka, first Indian state to do so

In a welcome step, the Karnataka government has decided to provide reservation to the transgender community in all the government services, becoming the first Indian state to do so. As per the final notification issued on July 6, people from the transgender community will get one percent reservation in all general as well as reserve categories. From now onwards, there will be a separate 'others' column in job applications.
