Rs 5000 crores collected by banks from its customers

Due to non-maintenance of minimum balance in the customer's accounts in 2017-18, it has been notified that approx 21 public sector banks along with 3 private ones have accumulated Rs 5,000 crore from the customers till now. SBI has been indulged in the imposing the penalties on its customers who have failed to maintain minimum account balance. Thus, the amount collected by it is half of that done by 24 banks.
