Safety of endangered species under concern as bird flu enters forests

The Bird flu or avian influenza, which has killed thousands of birds and chickens across the country has now entered the forest and protected areas of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Kerala. Several migratory ducks have been infected by the disease. “The first cases of avian influenza were reported from the Pong Dam in Himachal Pradesh," said Environment Ministry's additional director general, Soumitra Dasgupta.
