The US Federal Trade Commission has recorded a surge in complaints related to scam in the cryptocurrency market. Scammers posing as popular personalities including Elon Musk are using fake promised giveaways to trap people. "People have reported sending more than $2 million in cryptocurrency to Elon Musk impersonators over just the past six months," the FTC said. Scammers have also been impersonating government authorities.
