Researchers in Jerusalem have discovered a process to transform skin cells into the three significant stem cell types which develop early-stage embryos. The work, done in mouse cells, has massive implications in modeling embryonic disease and placental dysfunctions. It can also pave the way to develop whole embryos from skin cells. These reprogrammed skin cells have been named Induced Plutipotent Stem Cells.
