Scientists discovered 'paddy frog', a new species named 'aishani', from North East India

A new species of frog "paddy frogs" have been discovered from northeast India, by Delhi University scientists & Wildlife Institute of India in collaboration with Indonesia & US researchers. It belongs to the Microhylid genus & named 'Micryletta aishani'. The new species is named aishani, a Sanskrit word means 'northeast'; as it was discovered based on specimens collected from a degraded forest area in Cachar district, Assam.
