Sea level in India rising at 1.7mm/year

According to a report presented by the government in Rajya Sabha, Sea levels along the Indian coast have risen by 8.5 cm during the past 50 years with an average increase of 1.7 mm per year. However, the annual sea-level rise along the Indian coasts is half in comparison to global data. The sea levels at Diamond Harbour in West Bengal recorded the highest annual average increase(5.16 mm/year) followed by Kandla in Gujarat.
