Security official thinks old explosive material at the port, led to blast in Beirut
Hours after massive blast stunned Beirut, General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim said that the explosive materials confiscated years ago and stored at the city’s port may have led to the deadly blast. He said that the authorities will further investigate the matter. The shock of the blast could be felt up to 2.5 kilometres from the epicentre. Nearly 80 people were killed while hundreds got injured in the attack.
