Slum fire leaves 50,000 homeless in Bangladesh

A massive fire destroyed a slum in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, reportedly leaving almost 50,000 people homeless. No deaths have been reported yet, although a number of people are injured. Around 15,000 homes were destroyed in the fire. According to reports, most of the estimated 50,000 people who live in the slum were low-wage earners and were not at their homes celebrating a Muslim religious festival.
