As Delhi Police is failing to control the riots in North East Delhi, the government immediately assigned 1985 batch IPS officer – S N Shrivastava from the CRPF back to Delhi Police. The government-appointed him as special commissioner of police – law and order seeing the situation at Delhi. Prior to this, Shrivastava in Central Reserve Police Force. This was after Home Minister asked Delhi police to control the protests.
