Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court has suspended President Maithripala Sirisena’s orders to end a moratorium on capital punishment by hanging 4 drug convicts. The court suspended executions until it rules on a petition that seeks a declaration on hanging breaching the island country’s constitution. Sri Lanka’s last hangman had retired in 2014, but two out of 26 candidates have reportedly been selected to be the executioners.
