According to a recent study published by University of Michigan experts, Earth's rotation period was approximately six hours when it was four billion years old, but it progressively slowed down to 24 hours. However, over 400 million years, Earth's atmosphere depleted to one-tenth of what it is currently. This oxygen burst cleared the stage for further evolution of life and increased oxygen production.
