Supreme Court dismisses Nirbhaya convict's petition against rejection of mercy

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition challenging the rejection of mercy plea of Nirbhaya convict Mukesh Singh. The verdict was pronounced on Wednesday by a three-judge bench headed by Justice R Banumathi. The court said there is no merit in the contention. "Alleged torture can't be a ground, all documents were placed before the President and he had taken them into consideration," the top court added.
