Supreme Court green signals Centre's compensation scheme for Covid victims

The central government's scheme of granting Rs 50,000 ex gratia compensation for all those who lost lives due to Covid-19 in the country, has been approved by the Supreme Court. “The next kin of the deceased shall be paid an amount of Rs 50,000 and it will be over and above the amounts paid by Centre and state under various benevolent schemes," Justice MR Shah directed. NDMA has been directed to frame guidelines for the same.
