TB-diagnosis machines will now be used to test COVID-19; 9,000 GeneXpert arrived in India

'GeneXpert' are used for detecting Tuberculosis, which saved lives for 20 years in India. Now, they will be used for rapid testing COVID-19. The US FDA has approved the using GeneXpert for testing coronavirus samples wherein 4 samples can go at once & results will be obtained in about 45 mins. Cepheid, a diagnostic company has received authorisation from US FDA & India has placed 1 lakh orders of such machines.
