Myanmar is celebrating its traditional New Year, and on occasion, the country has pardoned nearly 9000 prisoners from jails on Wednesday after being announced by the president. Prez Win Myint said that 9,353 prisoners, which also includes 16 foreigners, had been released as a gesture of marking the Myanmar New Year, for the peace and pleasure of the people. 2 political prisoners are also among those being released.
