According to a study conducted by a non-profit organisation, Praja Foundation, the time taken for the trial of cases has doubled between 2013 to 2017 as compared to 2008 to 2012. The study found that the conviction rate in 31% of cases of crimes against women and 38% of cases of crimes against children, was the lowest in 2017. Over 90% of cases of crimes against women and children, that were to be tried in 2019, are still pending.
