A UN report says the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy that killed thousands of lives is among the world's major industrial accidents of the 20th century & warned that nearly 2.78 million workers die from occupational accidents & work-related diseases each year. It said at least 30 tons of methyl isocyanate gas was released from the Union Carbide pesticide plant, affecting over 600,000 workers & nearby residents.
