Under Brahmaputra tunnel to connect Gohpur and Numaligarh towns gets approval from centre amid tensions with China

Amid the border tensions with China, the central government has given in-principle approval to construct a strategic tunnel under the Brahmaputra river that will connect Gohpur and Numaligarh towns in Assam. The four-lane tunnel will be India's first underwater tunnel. The tunnel close to China border will be longer than the underwater tunnel being built by China below the Taihu Lake in Jiangsu province.
