Union Coal and Mines minister writes to Chattisgarh over auction of coal blocks under environmentally fragile area

Union Minister for Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi wrote back to Chhattisgarh minister for forest Mohammad Akbar, after the latter urged the centre not to auction the five coal blocks that fall under the Hasdeo Arand, Lemru elephant reserve and the catchment area of Mand river, citing environmental concerns. Joshi said centre will investigate the matter properly and the concerns of the state will be addressed.
