Unwed couples staying in hotel rooms is not a crime: Madras HC Judge

Madras HC Judge Justice MS Ramesh declared that unmarried couples will not be labelled as criminals and two adults living together are not deemed to be an offence. He made this remark directing the de-sealing of a service apartment in Coimbatore which was closed after a police and revenue team found an unmarried couple and some liquor bottles in a room during a search following complaints of alleged immoral activities.
