UP government has now decided to give ‘Heritage’ status to trees which are more than 100 years old for protection. Pawan Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of forests (PCCF), has instructed that the state's Forest Department must collaborate with gram sabhas to classify such trees for their conservation. A display board will be hung near each tree, mentioning its age, species, and how it is beneficial to both man and animal.
