US combat mission set to end in Iraq by the end of this year

US President Joe Biden has declared that the combat mission of US troops in Iraq will end by the end of this year. Biden made the announcement after holding talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi at the White House. There are currently more than 2,500 US troops in Iraq, leading the fight against the Islamic State group. While the troops are likely to stay in US, the combat mission will be ended.
