US decades away from widespread water shortage

Much of the United States could be gripped by significant water shortages in just five decades' time, according to predictions made in a new study. From the year 2071, water supply is likely to be under threat in watersheds in central and southern Great Plains, Southwest and the central Rocky Mountain States, California, and areas in South (Florida) and Midwest due to climate change and population increases.
