US, UK issue advisories on travelling in India over women's safety concerns

India, unfortunately, has a reputation that it is not safe for women, particularly for travellers. The British government on Nov 26 issued a detailed information sheet for “survivors of rape and sexual assault” for its citizens staying in India. US government's India travel advisory has kept India at ‘level 2’ security that requires travelers to “exercise increased caution." The report says rape is fastly growing in India.
