Uttarakhand government announces heavy fines on noise pollution

The Uttarakhand government has decided to levy heavy fines on noise pollution. According to a notification issued by the state government, "heavy fines will be levied on noise pollution caused at religious places, wedding ceremonies and/or by vehicles". Under the new rule, a person violating the specified 'decibel' for the first time will be fined Rs. 1,000. The fine will be increased to Rs. 2,500 for the second time.
