According to a laboratory study, the variant of Coronavirus that emerged in South Africa may reduce the antibody protection by vaccines. While the researchers noted that the vaccine was still able to neutralise the virus, they are not sure if the vaccine will be effective against the mutation always. “We don’t know what the minimum neutralizing number is. We don’t have that cutoff line,” said study co-author Pei-Yong Shi.
