The NPR is a database of the identities of all Indian residents. The data for the creation of the NPR was collected during the General Census carried out between April and September 2010. The Census of India, on the other hand, collects information about all residents of India. The Census data does not aim to collect information about individuals but to give an overall picture of the status or condition of residents of India.
