Why is Coronavirus not declared as a Pandemic?

Coronavirus has already killed nearly 2,800 people and over 80,000 people have been affected by it. However, WHO is yet to declare it as a pandemic. A pandemic is the spread of a disease across a large region while epidemic is widespread occurrence of the disease in a specific region. According to WHO, they will use the word Pandemic if it is an accurate description, but Coronavirus doesn’t fit the bill yet.
