Researchers have conducted the first room-temperature X-ray measurements on the main protease enzyme of coronavirus that helps it to multiply inside the cells. The enzyme structure is heart-shaped and the study will help scientists build a comprehensive 3D-model of the protein, which can later be used to find drugs that could block the viral replication. It is the 1st time the enzyme structure is measured at room temperature.
