South Africa's decision to suspend the vaccine campaign following research that found AstraZeneca jab minimally effective in preventing mild-to-moderate illness did not impress WHO. WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called it "concerning news". He argued that the study in South Africa was small. Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations head Richard Hatchett said, "it is vastly too early to be dismissing this vaccine."
