The SC has banned 5 chemicals in fireworks- antimony, lithium, mercury, lead, and arsenic -which increase air and noise pollution. The order came after Central Pollution Control Board and Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation told the court about their effect. The court also directed CPCB and PESO to lay down standards with regard to the chemical composition of firecrackers.
