87 companies bought vehicle and DL data of Indians from Govt

It was recently revealed in Rajya Sabha that the Government is selling vehicle registration and driving license data of the Indians in exchange of money. From the replies provided by the govt in Rajya Sabha, it is not yet clear how the Ministry is taking care of the privacy concerns that can be arise from selling these. 87 private and 31 govt entities have access these databases and have collected Rs 65cr so far.
