FM Nirmala Sitharaman said 2 debt-ridden state-owned companies, Air India and Bharat Petroleum are expected to be sold by the government by March 2020. This announcement comes at a time the ailing national carrier is facing financial stress, sitting on a debt pile of Rs 58,000 crore. There is a lot of interest in Air India. In the BPCL case, a group of secretaries had agreed for sale of an entire 53.29% stake in the company.
