Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who was serving as an officer on special duty in the home ministry is now appointed as the new Union home secretary. Appointments Committee of the cabinet which is headed by PM Modi approved Bhalla''s appointment. Bhalla replaced Rajiv Gauba, who was appointed as the new cabinet secretary. Ajay is a notable alumni of 1984-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer who also served as a Union power secretary.
