Andhra Pradesh passes resolution to abolish Legislative Council

Andhra Pradesh cabinet chaired by chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday approved a resolution for abolishing the state’s legislative council. The resolution will be introduced in the state assembly shortly and adopted after a thorough discussion. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) announced a boycott of the assembly session, infuriated with the decision. After it is passed in the assembly, the bill will be sent to the Centre.
