The Parliament of Austria has banned Muslim girls from wearing a headscarf in the primary schools. The passed law is likely to be challenged as discriminatory in the constitutional court. The bill got cleared with the support of the governing centre-right People's Party (ÖVP) and the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) while almost all of the opposition parties voted against it. The text did not directly target Muslims.
