This is for the first time when Belgium takes responsibility for the harm it caused to parent during the colonial era. The Belgian PM Charles Michel on Thursday issued a formal apology over the forced removal of thousands of children born to mixed-race parents during the colonial-era of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, and Rwanda between 1959 and 1962. On behalf of the federal govt, he apologized to the parents.
