Change is Parliament: Majority of MPs are not politicians

Recently concluded seventeenth Lok Sabha election was different in many aspects. It has witnessed the highest number of women MPs since 1984. However, among 542 elected MPs, only 39% are professional politicians. Along with that, the average age of the women MPs are 6-years younger than their male counterpart. The number of Muslim MPs have also increased from 23 to 27 in the parliament. However, 90% of elected MPs are Hindu.
