US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed China over the arrest of an American citizen in China. “The United States will not tolerate the arbitrary detention or harassment of US citizens," Pompeo said. The State Secretary warned of sanctions against those involved in assaulting the people in Hong Kong. China was particularly irked by Pompeo's plan to send Washington’s UN ambassador Kelly Craft to Taiwan.
