China on mind: Govt amends FDI policy to dissuade foreign opportunistic investments

The central govt has amended its FDI policy to ensure foreign companies don't take advantage of the economic slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the new policy, an entity of a country that shares a land border with India can invest only under the govt route, the direct investment won't be possible anymore. Experts feel this move may have been made keeping China in mind. Such restrictions were for Pak & Bangladesh.
